A tense exchange followed between Philippe Cantin and the columnist. “I am speechless […] I think you read too many uncredible websites,” replied the host. The columnist then denied consulting fake news sites.
The columnist said he was trying to “document himself as much as possible” on the issue. He added that he had seen “information” about how difficult it is “to send rockets into space.”
“You know that there is a whole industry that tries to deny the obvious, to sow doubts in people’s heads? », replied Philippe Cantin to his colleague. “I find that at the moment, this phenomenon is very worrying. »
Cogeco and 98.5 dissociated themselves from the comments made by Jeremy Filosa, in a message sent to The Press. “His opinion is his own and, in no case, does Cogeco Media and 98.5 endorse this type of denialist remarks,” the company wrote.
The columnist has been removed from the airwaves for an indefinite period. The situation will be resolved internally, added Cogeco.
