EXPOSITION – By entering the renovated Grand Palais, the international fair, anchored in Switzerland, has succeeded in attracting the cream of VIPs to the capital.

Does the habit make the monk? Will the setting of the restored Grand Palais be enough for the success of Basel , the first edition under this international name, after the last two under the name of Paris+ at the ephemeral Grand Palais? Will this magnificent setting, glorious under the Austerlitz sun for Wednesday’s VIP opening, oozing under the downpours of Thursday’s climate upheaval, succeed in thwarting the anticipated crisis in the art market, in defying the financial power of London or New York and the dominant position of the mother fair of Art Basel in Switzerland? Beyond the enthusiasm of the first visitors, happy to find this Parisian monument and its incredible nave, often citing the years of the Fiac, the question arises of the reality of a world decidedly rougher than its decorum.
