Five train stops are being scrapped with the 2025 timetable

The CFF’s desire to better respect its timetables is not without consequences on regional lines. Thus, the Yverdon region will lose, so to speak, five railway stops as soon as the the 2025 schedule which comes into force on December 15.

From that date, the Yverdon-Sainte- train will pass straight past the William-Barbey, La Brinaz, Valeyres-sous-Montagny and Essert-sous-Champvent stops, during the day during the week. As for the CFF Yverdon-Fribourg line, it will no longer serve the Champ-Pittet stop. “The HEIG-VD, the gymnasium and the Pro Natura Center will therefore lose accessibility,” notes Ella-Mona Chevalley.

The municipal councillor, member of the Verts et Solidaires group, in fact returned to the plenum last week on this last case, arguing that travelers coming from Yvonand, Estavayer or Friborg find themselves forced to transit through Yverdon station and to take a city bus to reach their destination. “It’s ecological nonsense, because this waste of time will encourage them to take the car rather than the train,” she regretted.

“Limited” inconvenience

Although the “room for maneuver is small”, the municipal authorities reacted quickly. And their appeal was partially heard. “To limit inconvenience, BusPostal line 650 will make trips via the gymnasium to provide a connection from Yvonand,” explained city councilwoman Brenda Tuosto.

The current round trips of the bus between Pomy and Yvonand (they take students from these villages to their college) will be modified from Monday to Friday into fourteen daily loops which will also serve the gymnasium. “At the same time, the General Directorate of Mobility and Roads (DGMR) and Pro Natura are currently looking for a solution for people with reduced mobility who willingly frequent this nature center,” explains Julien Niquille, head of the transport supply and project area. public at the DGMR.

In the Canton, we also insist on the fact that it is a “suspension, not a suppression”. Without announcing a date for the return to service of the Champ-Pittet stop, the CFF is looking for the key to achieving this, by saving time between the Cheyres crossing (FR) and Yverdon station.

This solution is, however, known for Yverdon-Sainte-Croix. It involves the construction, by 2027-2029, of a crossing point near the old Six-Fontaines stopover, between Baulmes and Sainte-Croix.

Until then, passengers will also have to rely on a road service. Via bus 611 Yverdon-Champvent to Essert. And by line B12 for the William-Barbey, La Brinaz and Valeyres stops. Created especially for the occasion, it will run from Monday to Friday, from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., with trains continuing to provide regular service late in the evening and at weekends.
