It was like a “pressure cooker” that led to this explosion of violence
Me Samira Boudiba, lawyer for Nadir Chekab
A feminicide which occurred after 25 years of relationship “tumultuous”. A man “under the influence”according to Nadir Chekab's lawyer, Maître Samira Boudiba, speaking to France 3 Lorraine: “It is feminicide in the sense that it is a man who killed his partner but not in the “media” sense. I think that psychiatric expertise and other personality investigations will show that it is a question of someone who was under the influence of his partner. There were a lot of arguments, verbal violence. Madame had already had problems with the law in relation to Mr. had no convictions for violence beforehand. It was like a “pressure cooker” which led to this explosion of violence, this murder..
It is indeed Madame who died of violence from Monsieur, it is not the other way around
Me Carole Airoldi-Martin, lawyer for the civil parties
For Me Carole Airoldi-Martin, lawyer for the civil parties, such a tragedy could have been avoided. “I represent the son of Annick Bermand who, like several witnesses, is not at all in line with the defense. Madame was the victim, for years, of Monsieur's domination, of his violence, before the eyes of those around her. He was also violent with his previous companions. Several witnesses testified that Monsieur had angry behavior and that Madame often had bruises. Neighbors heard violence, screams, calls for help from Madame, without ever intervening unfortunately, out of “habit”. It is indeed Madame who died of violence from Monsieur, it is not the other way around. We cannot let it be said that this is not femicide.”insists the lawyer.
On the evening of March 7, 2021, just two hours before the murder, the gendarmes intervened at the home of Annick Bermand, following an argument with her ex-companion. The trial is expected to last three days.
