The actor had of course enjoyed numerous successes with his comrades from Splendid at the start of his career but also in more dramatic films. He notably won the prize for best actor at the Cannes Film Festival in 1986 for Evening wear and the César for best supporting actor for State Exercise in 2012. During the retrospective, Gérard Jugnot couldn’t hide his sadness, wiping away the few tears. At the end of the screening, the 73-year-old man said stood up to greet the rest of the audience, applauding his lifelong friend.

We thought we would celebrate this little book with joy and unfortunately, that will not be the case. This will remain“, he confided.
