Laura Trappeniers (66) and Marc Olbrechts (71) had lived in Tenerife for several years and were last seen on April 22. A wanted notice was issued two days later. Their car, an Opel Mokka with a Spanish license plate, was also missing.

“The couple’s friends found the car on Saturday while they were looking in the area,” said a VTM Nieuws correspondent, present on the scene. “They found the car in the main street of a hamlet, not far from where the couple lived. They notified the police.” The car was reportedly unlocked. A knife, sunglasses and clothing were found in the vehicle, which was seized.
On April 27, the woman’s mutilated body was found in the Atlantic Ocean. After the discovery of his body, the facts were reclassified as a violent death and the case was therefore federalized. Her husband is still missing.
