Between 500 and 1000 tuning cars illegally gathered in Bree: police let event end

An unauthorized tuning meeting took place in Brée (province of Limburg) during the night from Saturday to Sunday. The police, who numbered between 500 and 1,000 cars, kept a vigilant eye on the event which they allowed to end in a controlled manner.

The local police in the Carma area (Genk, As, Oudsbergen, Zutendaal, Houthalen-Helchteren, Brée, Bocholt, Kinrooi) were informed on Saturday evening around 9:30 p.m. of the holding of an illegal tuning meeting in Brée. Modified vehicles were gathering in the Kanaal-Noord industrial zone near the Greenyard company, later joined by others in increasing numbers.

The police arrived at the scene with several squads and drones, and decided to close the industrial zone. After a while, she counted between 500 and 1,000 cars.

Participants came from the Netherlands, Germany and France. The location and time of the gathering had been broadcast on social networks. Police kept a watchful eye and allowed the event to take place, Bree Mayor Liesbeth Van der Auwera confirmed on Sunday morning.
