Sunday May 5, in the suburbs of the Australian city of Perth, a 16-year-old teenager was shot dead by the police, reports BFMTV. The teenager had injured a person with a knife and “ precipitate » on the police who came to question him. Roger Cook, the Prime Minister of the state of Western Australia, confirmed during a press conference that the young man had been fatally injured by one of the police officers.

The young man himself had informed the police, calling them on Saturday evening and claiming that he was ready to commit “ acts of violence “. A new call from a witness a few minutes later confirmed that the young man carried out his threats in a parking lot in the southern suburbs of Perth.

The man injured by the teenager’s stab wound is, according to Col Blanch, the head of the state police, in a ” severe » but stable. As for the young man, after refusing to comply once the police arrived on site, he was the target of a single gunshot, before dying in the night.

The assailant had “ mental health problems, but also problems of online radicalization », confirms Col Blanch. He adds that the young man was a member of a program to combat violence and extremism. “ It is a program aimed at helping individuals who express ideologies of concern to our community », explains Col Blanch.
