3 solutions to relieve pollen allergies

Pollen has been wreaking havoc on us for several weeks now: runny noses, itchy throats, watery eyes… The ordeal of those allergic to pollen has well and truly begun. To overcome this, we often use antihistamines because these symptoms are unpleasant. The problem is that these drugs sometimes tend to knock us out.

How to relieve pollen allergies naturally?

The naturopaths from Top Santé magazine advise three things to remedy pollen allergies.

The first is to clean your nose thoroughly with cold sterilized sea water, rich in minerals and trace elements. This will hydrate and clean your mucous membranes as well as facilitate decongestion of the nose. Sprays based on essential oils (like eucalyptus for example) can also help.

Then, you can prepare herbal teas made from thyme. This contains thujanol (anti-inflammatory), thymol and linalool (antiseptics and antibacterials). Hot water will increase these benefits tenfold because the scents go up to the nose. To benefit from it, mix a teaspoon of thyme flowering tops in 250 ml of hot water and leave to infuse for 5 minutes. We recommend drinking 4 cups per day.

You can also inhale essential oils. By using the properties of water vapor, you will decongest the mucous membranes and clean them. Pour 4 drops of niaouli EO into a bowl of hot water or into an inhaler and lean over it with a towel on your head to keep in the steam. Take deep breaths for 5-10 minutes, 2-3 times a day.

If you prefer to do it dry, you can pour a few drops of this essential oil onto a tissue and breathe for 10-15 seconds, 3 to 4 times a day.
