Stock market: Wall Street opens higher, helped by a deceleration in American employment

MARKET REVIEW. The New York Stock Exchange opened higher on Friday, satisfied to see the job market and wages decelerate, without collapsing, which keeps intact the prospect of a rate cut by the end of the year.

In Toronto, the S&P/TSX rose by +118.54 points (+0.54%) to 21,940.54 points.

In New York, the S&P 500 rose by +65.45 points (+1.29%) to 5,129.65 points.

THE Nasdaq soared +328.26 points (+2.07%) to 16,169.69 points.

THE DOW climbed +513.76 points (+1.34%) to 38,739.42 points.

THE loon gained +US$0.0019 (+0.2627%) to US$0.7331.

THE oil decreased by -US$0.38 (-0.48%) to US$78.57.

Gold lost -US$17.90 (-0.775%) to US$2,291.70.
