It’s the big night for OM. The Marseille team welcomes the Italians from Atalanta Bergamo, this Thursday, May 2, for the semi-final first leg of the Europa League. Marseille are not favorites against a club which knocked out Liverpool in the previous round. The Olympians hope to take an option on qualification before the return match next week.
Scamacca strikes from the start, Mbemba wakes up the Vélodrome
On their first opportunity, the Italians surprised the Marseille defensive line. The Dutchman, Koopmeiners, slips a ball behind the Olympian defense. Scamacca controls before adjusting Lopez, with a low cross strike.
This could have cooled the Vélodrome. But Chancel Mbemba, starting for the first time in several weeks, allows OM to equalize. On a corner, Clauss shifts Kondogbia who extends towards Mbemba 25 meters away. The defender lands a magnificent shot which ricochets off Musso’s right post (1-1, 19′).
