– Pro-Palestine demonstration underway at UNIL
Around fifty students occupy a building on campus, where a public course on the conflict in the Middle East and its history is to be given. The rector is on hand to talk.

A few minutes before a public lecture which electrifies the campus, around fifty demonstrate in the Geopolis building of the University of Lausanne. “For an immediate and permanent ceasefire throughout the Palestinian territory and easier access to humanitarian aid,” advocates a tact displayed at the entrance to the building, which calls for joining the ongoing mobilization.
The rector of the University, Frédéric Herman, is currently in discussion with the demonstrators.
In a leaflet circulating on campus, the demonstrators say they are following the example of the mobilizations on Canadian, American and French campuses. They demand “an academic boycott of Israeli institutions as well as an immediate ceasefire in the Palestinian territories.”
The latest news is that we are negotiating, the atmosphere is calm.
