Five years after “M”, Yolande Zauberman sets out in pursuit of a legend, that of a trans woman who came on foot to Tel Aviv from Gaza. A pretext investigation for a gallery of nocturnal and sensitive portraits, shedding light on transgender existences in Israel and Palestine.

Yolande Zauberman generally chooses the most hazardous places to go for a walk with a camera. Where there is fracture, taboo, fear, cover of silence, community tightness, religion against religion, violence against freedom. The intimate questions that no reasonable person ventures to ask, which each time trigger laughter of disbelief, nervous glances to see who is likely to listen, these are the very ones that she decides deposit. We remember it, in 2012, in Would You Have Sex With an Arab? turned around the nightclubs of Tel Aviv or in the alleys of Jerusalem, this simple introduction shalom : “Would you make love to an Arab?”

Five years later Mportrait of a child raped in his Hasidic community of Bnei Brak, the Beauty of Gaza comes to put an end to his “trilogy of the night“. A documentary project where the glow of faces is always caught in the dark, words flow freely into places where we know it is constrained or impossible, light against darkness.
