The Council of States will be able to debate the second phase of measures aimed at curbing the rise in health costs in June. The commission has finished its discussions. In particular, it proposes introducing quantity discounts which would save 400 million.

The public health committee of the Council of States adopted the project by 10 votes to 1, the parliamentary services indicated on Wednesday. Five sessions were necessary.

By 9 votes to 0, she proposed introducing quantity discounts for medicines with a high market volume. When a medicine exceeds a certain turnover, the authorization holder must grant compensation. This measure would save up to 400 million francs.

The commission also attacks Tarmed, which has become obsolete. By 9 votes to 2, she wants to instruct the Federal Council to cap the volume of billable medical points per working day.
