At a press conference this afternoon, the Senegalese Democratic Party made a proposal to the new authorities on the issue relating to land. This involves the immediate establishment of a special retroactive property tax on land assets sold off and transferred by the State over the last ten years. This tax, which could be “set at 25% of the transfer price per square meter revalued at the current market value, should allow the State to generate significant exceptional revenues to finance, in particular, the fight against flooding and the construction of social housing. », proposes the liberal party which also welcomes the decision of the President of the Republic to stop all construction on the coast, as well as in Thiès and Mbour.

The Wadiste party hopes that this decision will be accompanied by a reform which will accelerate the “one family, one roof” program and will address, to remedy it in a structural way, the questions of sanitation and recurrent floods which regularly submerge millions of Senegalese in disarray.
