The Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock, Dr Mabouba Diagne signed, on Wednesday, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Italian company Bonifiche Ferraresi International, as part of a public partnership- private sector supported by the Mattei Plan of the European Union.
“I signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Italian company Bonifiche Ferraresi International, as part of a public-private partnership supported by Italy’s Mattei Plan,” wrote Mabouba Diagne on his page X (Twitter).
Covering more than 10,000 hectares, this project with a budget of 88 billion FCFA (134 million Euro) aims to develop agriculture, livestock and fish farming.
-This ambitious partnership is part of the implementation of the Diomaye Plan for Casamance, with the objective of transforming the region of Sédhiou (South) into an integrated agricultural hub, writes the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock (MASAE).
Among the expected benefits of the project, there is the creation of tens of thousands of jobs for young people and women, the installation of several community agricultural cooperatives (CAC) and the development of socio-economic infrastructure for local populations. .
