Lara Fabian has never hidden how much her mother played a central role in her life, both personally and artistically. Luisa, an Italian immigrant to Belgium, knew how to instill in her daughter the value of work, perseverance, but also the importance of family.
It was thanks to her that Lara learned to face trials with dignity, to never give up on her dreams, even when life seemed stubbornly complicating them.

The 55-year-old singer spoke about her death and her pathology last February during an interview with Bel RTL radio: “I lost my mother to a complex, neurodegenerative disease, very very serious, called Lewy body dementia. It’s a mix between Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. This is coupled with extremely violent hallucinations. It’s progressive and seesawing.”
