The Marseille artist says he supports, as a “godfather”, the inclusion of this popular formula among young people in the 2025 edition of the Robert editions dictionary.
You may have heard your children or grandchildren use this term with their friends. “My spoiled person” has become the fashionable expression among young people in recent years. And this, even though it does not appear in any dictionary, even the most recent ones. It’s in the last episode of Hot Ones a program produced by Canal+ and in which a guest tastes the hottest sauces in the world on the Scoville scale (unit of measuring the strength of peppers), that the idea of integrating “my spoiled one” into Petit Robert has emerged.
But, concretely, what does that mean? The question was asked to its inventor SCH, who was initially surprised to learn that his expression could be included in the dictionary. The Marseille rapper defined it as follows: « Refer to a person in a warm way. » And the presenter Kyan Khojandi, who took this story seriously, brought Géraldine Moinard, editorial director of Editions Le Robert, onto the set of the show. The lexicographer then proposed another formulation, more suited to the « dictionary language » : « Affective appellation ». And Julian Schwarzer in the city could only bow to the accuracy of this possible future definition. « I can’t compete »he retorted.
SCH, godfather of expression
However, the one we nicknamed “the S” initially thought it was a joke. « It’s going to fit [dans le dictionnaire] ? »he asked the production teams of Hot Ones ? Géraldine Moinard teaches us that a « commission meets to examine all candidate words for entry into Petit Robert »and that the rapper’s expression will precisely enter into committee for the 2025 edition. It also informs us that a few words may concern « regional jobs »provided that they « are very common, or even nationalized ». Here, the general conditions apparently all seem to be met. Especially since the unique term “spoiled” is already in Larousse with its original meaning: an affectionate way of saying “cuddle” in the south of France. All that remains is to add the pronouns “my” and “my” to create another meaning.

A few years ago, the Marseille word “cagole”, designating “a young girl or young woman who displays a provocative and vulgar femininity”, was included in Petit Robert. « If that’s it, “my spoiled one” must [l’intégrer]it’s still much more positive »exclaimed SCH. To request the inclusion of his popularized expression in the song Organized Band in 2019 (“Yes, my spoiled one, RS4 nardo gray, of course I missed them”), the rapper said this sentence: « Dear committee, I support this message as the sponsor of this expression. » Response from Petit Robert next May.
