Setting your hands on fire while making the famous sign of the rapper Jul, this seems to be the latest “trend”, meaning trend, on TikTok.
Hairspray, perfume or even hydroalcoholic gel
Indeed, since November 2024, many young fans of the Marseille rapper have filmed themselves reproducing the cover of theFree album vol. 2. Released in 2016, the cover is illustrated by the rapper’s hands making his gesture, all surrounded by flames. A digital effect of course.
But in an attempt to replicate this effect, fans decided to do it for real. And all means are good: hairspray, perfume, deodorant or even hydroalcoholic gel… Once the fingers or hands are covered with (highly) flammable liquid, they bring them close to the flame of a candle or a lighter, reproducing the gesture, then hasten to extinguish the flames. The faces of some teenagers betraying a hint of pain…
“If you could stop it would be better for me”
This challenge seems to have its origins in Germany and quickly arrived in France and then to Jul’s ears. “The team, I hope you are well?” Just to tell you that I saw the trend you’re making on TikTok. It’s nice but it’s a little dangerous for you! »explains the rapper from Marseille in an Instagram post published on Saturday November 23. “If you could stop it would be better for me”concludes the artist.
As a reminder, this type of challenge is very dangerous and is not without consequences. It is obvious that the risks of burns to fingers or hands are significant. Without forgetting the risk of fire.
