Remember, we are in 2022. For its fifteenth edition, the extreme music festival brought together more than 350 groups from all over the world for a double edition.
Among them some great headliners such as Deftones, Megadeth, Deep Purple, Scorpions, Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Gojira, Guns N’Roses and to top it all off, to make this double edition definitely unforgettable, the American group Metallica.
Considered one of the four greatest thrash metal groups along with Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax, Metallica, unlike the other three, had never set up its flight cases in the Clisson vineyard.
Even if the group did not rock Ben Barbaud’s adolescence, as he himself confided in an interview given in June 2021 to our colleagues at L’Hebdo de Sèvre & Maine, the boss of Hellfest felt that the arrival of the group crowned a work of 17 years and rewarded the professionalism of his team : “There is a bit of pride in having Metallica on the bill, but for me, the double festival has more resonance than Metallica.”.
Metallica in Clisson in 2022: a first! But in France, the group has been a regular since its first visit in 1984 until its last tour in 2019.
Founded in 1981 in Los Angeles, Metallica stood out in the world of metal from his first album, Kill ‘Em All. His nervous and rapid style, influenced in particular by punk, is a festival of sharp riffs, wild solos, all carried by a drum kit agressive. Metallica is also a sound, powerful, unique, which will be his trademark throughout his career.

So, Metallica in 2024? Nothing has really changed. On the tour side, the band gave its first concert of the year 2024 on May 26 in Munich in pouring rain. It will pass through Milan, Vienna, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Oslo… before reaching Clisson on June 27.
