3 other romantic sagas from Julia Quinn to read, if you have finished “The Bridgerton Chronicles”

Julia Quinn is known for her successful saga The Bridgerton Chronicles, adapted into a series on Netflix. Did you like the style of the American author, which combines romance and a dive into English history? We recommend 3 other series of novels.

“The Rokesby Chronicle”

Published in France by J’ai lu editions, The Rokesby Chronicle is a saga composed of four volumes – each dedicated to a particular character. The story is set in the late 18th century – many years before the birth of Daphne, Anthony and co – and is named after the Rokesby family, neighbors and friends of the Bridgerton ancestors. This prequel saga in which we find Edmund Bridgerton, then a young boy, recounts the intertwined destinies of two neighboring families. With of course, a nice dose of love and weddings on the program…

“The Smythe-Smith Quartet”

Another (successful) saga by Julia Quinn: The Smythe-Smith Quartet, also available from J’ai lu editions. This four-volume series is a spin-off of The Bridgerton Chronicles, in which we find Lady Whistledown. The latter takes up her funny and acerbic pen to tell the story of an atypical family of musicians, the Smythe-Smiths (already crossed in the novels Bridgerton and remembered for its terrible annual concerts). On the program: colorful characters, romantic intrigues and a new dive into the English Regency.

“The Blydons”

We end this selection with the literary series The Blydons. Volume 1 of this saga, Splendid (I read), is his very first novel, published in 1995 in the United States. The history of this work? Emma Dunster, a young independent American heiress, is in London at the beginning of the 19th century, where she visits her cousins. She has many suitors but does not wish to marry any of them. In order to spice up her life before making her entrance into the world, the young woman likes to slip out of her house disguised… as a maid. But when the Duke of Ashbourne steals a fiery kiss from her, she is so disturbed that she forgets her resolutions. Volumes 2 and 3 respectively follow Belle, Emma’s cousin, and the latter’s friend, William Dunford.
