This time the Caennais did not let the victory slip away (70-69). At the end of a grueling season, they once again reach Pro B this Sunday, thanks to an unwavering leader: Bali Coulibaly.

Five years later, here they are again! The CBC snatched at the end of the suspense, after a long season in Nationale 1, its place in Pro B, Sunday June 16 in an explosive Palais des Sports with a score of 70-69.

After their overtime defeat on Friday evening (84-77 AD) Stéphane Eberlin’s men had the burst of pride they needed. At least in the first 30 minutes where they were clinical, until a slump in the last quarter, at the start of money time. Were they really going to pass out so close to the goal?

Bali Coulibaly was clearly not of this opinion and carried his team until the very last second. He was logically elected man of the match, his free throw will remain engraved in the history of the club.

  • The CBC is scared but Coulibaly comes to its rescue

A historic money time! Stuck at 68-61 for several minutes, the Caennais almost missed out. By equalizing with a three-point shot (69-69), Hugo Dumortier stunned the Palais des Sports, but only for an instant. The time it takes for the CBC to become lucid again and find the solution: the fault on its pivot in the last four seconds. Bali Coulibaly scores his free throw and frees all the Caen people who invade the floor a few seconds later. An end to the match that was as suffocating as it was exhilarating!

  • The climb has never been closer

The CBC widened the gap in the third quarter (63-49) until reaching a maximum lead of 17 points, facing a helpless team. Those who qualified “Team of Thugs” in the columns of West France are having real shooting difficulties and are losing many balls. The Caennais, stung on Friday, took advantage and made the majority of the balls recovered. They are only 10 minutes away from realizing their dream and that of the people dressed in white.

  • A controlled first half

The Normans return to the locker room with an eight-point lead over the Drômois after dominating the debates in the first period (43-35). Skillful in the first quarter, Coulibaly and his gang produced good statistics with 15/30 shooting, including 6/13 from three points. The Caennais also showed themselves tireless in defense with 4 intercepted balls compared to just one for Saint-Vallier. The team is guided by its executives and pushed by an enthusiastic public.

  • A first quarter that meets the challenges

26-19. This is the score displayed at the end of the first quarter. The Caennais are not procrastinating this evening in front of their burning audience at the Palais des Sports. Mutuale, Siegwarth, Davis Jr, Njiba, Coulibaly made up the starting five. Bali Coulibaly shows the way to his teammates by opening the scoring and showing great form.
