Déborah from Survivor Quebec gets her job back after being fired

At the very start of the Survivor Quebec season, a petition circulated on the web so that Déborah would find her job as an elementary school teacher.

You should know that when she returned from the adventure, she learned that she had been fired. When she learned that she had been chosen to participate in the show, she requested two months of leave from the school service center, which she was refused. She decided to go to the Philippines anyway.

Before his departure, nothing had been decided about the sanctions that would be imposed on him. It was her friend who told her the bad news of her dismissal in the car on the way home.

I was speechless, I couldn’t believe it. Luckily I was sitting in the car because I think I should have sat down, I didn’t speak anymore, I was speechless, I couldn’t believe it. I said to myself: it’s not true, I went on an incredible adventure, I come back, I want to make the school service center shine, I want to make my school shine, and then they tell me that. »

She continues: “ I completely understand that they want to punish me for making this decision [NDLR : quitter pendant deux mois malgré un refus]but as I have said several times, my record is perfect, I am a beloved teacher […] : does an employee who has a good career and who still decides to leave deserve the first sanction: dismissal? I still found it strong. »

With the help of her union, Déborah finally managed to sign an agreement with the school service center. “ They made an agreement with me which really offered me something in between. I didn’t lose everything, but I didn’t get everything back. That’s what I wanted in the sense that I didn’t get the biggest penalty. »

[Cette histoire] came to tarnish my adventure. I was able to return to my school, but all my colleagues were walking on eggshells.

She adds : “Everyone was afraid of making me shine within the school. People didn’t dare to do anything like a special day with the students or post a message on the school’s Facebook to congratulate me on my progress. As always, there was something hovering. They said to each other: “do we have the right to congratulate Deborah?” “.

Déborah indicates that she uses her experience to Survivor Quebec to instill certain good values in its students. “ There are some who tell me: “I’m sad, you were eliminated”. I tell them: “Yes, you have the right to be sad that I was eliminated, but look at all the journey that I have made. In life, you don’t win everything, but look at how I get out of there grown up.” Everything I learned about myself, that’s what I try to teach them. Young children like that, when we play games, they are often bad losers. Then me, leaving with my head held high as I left, it’s a life lesson that I show to my students. »

Note that Déborah teaches at the Saint-Thomas-d’Aquin school in Saint-Hyacinthe.

The final of Survivor Quebec will be broadcast on Sunday June 16 at 8 p.m. on Noovo.
