Ludacris celebrates 21 years of “Chicken-N-Beer”

Ludacris is one of those rappers who are a little underrated and a little forgotten by the new generation, but there was a time when he was still part of the headliners of the US rap gamewith great sales scores and rewards raining down everywhere. In 2003, he released one of his cult albums, “Chicken-N-Beer”, which celebrates its 21st anniversary this year. On this occasion, he made a short video on his networks in which he recalls an anecdote about the conception of this album: the time he tried to smoke Snoop Dogg.

No one can put Snoop to bed on weed

In the video, Ludacris begins by remembering what his favorite track from the album is:

One of my favorite songs is ‘Hoes in My Room’. But listen, it was my first time working with Snoop Dogg in the studio, I had always wanted to work with him. He’s one of my heroes.

I remember I was walking around Los Angeles, and Snoop told me to come by his studio, and I was with Poon Daddy. The guy I was on the radio with is still my friend. And everyone knows Poon can fuck anyone on weed.

So we’re heading to Snoop’s studio, okay? And it’s like, south versus west, you know what I mean? I’m not going to give up, and I know Poon is not going to give up. We start lighting the blunts. I would say, about 6 at a time, seven, running all the time. My guy Bishop Don Magic Juan was there too.

And those who know Don Juan know that he shoves the blunts up his nose and starts smoking like that, and then he wants to pass them to others. I didn’t want to touch it, man. But I took every other blunt that passed me. Just like Poon, and the same for Snoop, as he wrote his verse.

After about an hour everyone was still smoking. After two hours, he almost finished his verse. For the first time in my life, I look at Poon and see him letting go and passing the blunt straight through. That’s it, it’s dead for him.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in my life. So it’s just me and Snoop, we put Poon Daddy to bed for the first time. But I can’t say I slept Snoopbut it was still a heroic moment for me, especially being in the studio with him. I love him with all my heart.”

A very nice story, and we can take our hats off to him for having managed to compete with the grand master of weed in the rap game!
