While Eurovision is fast approaching, and France is hoping for a victory for Slimane, some are speaking out and pointing out their skepticism. This is the case of singer François Valéry, star of the 1970s and 1980s, who has a very precise theory to assert loud and clear that the interpreter of “Mon amour” will fail.

This time, we are very close. It is this Saturday, May 11 that Slimane will know whether or not he realizes his dream of winning Eurovision, he is undoubtedly among the favorites. It must be said that his song “Mon amour”, a little UFO in a competition which often rewards rhythmic songs, ticks all the boxes to allow him to be the first Frenchman to triumph in 47 years.

The last coronation dates back to 1977, when Marie Myriam allowed France to win with “The Bird and the Child”. Moreover, the singer, now in her sixties did not fail to send a sympathetic message to Slimane, who can be assured of his support. But this is not the case for all artists…

François Valéry convinced that Slimane will not win

Guest of Jordan de Luxe this Tuesday, François Valéry drew up a clear and clear observation on Slimane’s participation. For him, the matter is already settled: victory is impossible, for a very specific reason.

He won’t win because we won’t be able to win, it costs too much. We could have won Eurovision more than once already.

The very rare confidences of Slimane (34 years old) about his private life: “I am…”

Comments which echo those made by Cyril Hanouna on the set of “Touche pas à mon poste”. Presenter of the show in the past, the C8 troublemaker declared:

We can’t win because it’s very complicated. When I hosted with Stéphane Bern, the people on the channel told me that the ideal was to finish second or third because we are in the race until the end.

Finishing first is a disaster because we have to organize the following year and it costs a lot of money. The show in Russia where I went cost 32 million euros to make. If we do that here, we close everything, there is no more Nagui, no more broadcasts.

It now remains to be seen whether the prediction of François Valéry and Cyril Hanouna will come true. Slimane, for his part, believes in it wholeheartedly, invested in this mission. He explained thus at the end of his second rehearsal:

I want the magical moment. In my career, I have had appointments that changed my life and I know that this Eurovision can be one of them. I don’t want to miss it. I am so connected with the camera, with the song, that it creates a bubble. Suddenly, time stops and I tell this story which moves me. I find there a kind of truth of the moment. It’s as if the rest doesn’t exist.

While he obviously has nothing against Slimane as a performer, François Valéry somehow believes that the dice are loaded and that financial prerogatives take precedence over everything else. Let us hope that he is wrong, and that Vitaa’s acolyte achieves this glory that he hopes for and for which he has worked so hard.
