Odem (The Voice 2024) looks back on his complicated cross battle against his friend in Sahteene

The remaining talents in the teams of Mika, Bigflo and Oli, Zazie and Vianney competed this Saturday, May 4 during the second evening of the Cross battles of The Voice 2024. If it is the coaches who choose the talent of their team which will face that of another coach, it is the public which chooses who continues the adventure and the result is sometimes very close. During the evening, Odem, in the Vianney team, faced Sahteene, from the Bigflo and Oli team. A complicated battle for the singer which ended with a very close score: 50.2% for Odem. He confides in Tele-Leisure about his friendship with Sahteene and the complicated Cross battle he experienced.

Tele-Leisure : Was there anyone you were afraid to go against?
Odem: I wasn’t afraid to go against anyone because I was there to give what I had to give. I was afraid there would be someone like Memusical family“bring out one or the other. Ugo, Sahteene and I, we have known each other for two years and we were together for a year every day in a singing school. Finding myself against Sahteene or Ugo, it was the worst possible scenario I would have preferred to find myself against anyone else, even if it meant losing too.

How did you feel when you found yourself face to face with Sahteene?
I was so disturbed. Two or three rounds before I pass, I go to production saying I need to go to the bathroom. They tell me: “Next round“. It was my turn. So I go out, I go backstage to get ready and I run into the toilets. I come back, and on the way back, my opponent had been called and I hear someone calling me calls out : “Odem, it’s Sahteene“. And then, I completely lost my concentration. I didn’t start to cry, but I was helpless. You fell against your little sister, a girl that I respect, towards whom I have a lot of love. It broke my heart. So I come, sit down and shout in the hallway: “No no no !“I was disturbed and I was very disappointed that I was put against Sahteene too. I didn’t want to fight against her.

What caused your little false note?
We did rehearsals with Vianney, we get to the end of the song and we look at each other. And Vianney and Olivier Schultheis (the musical director, editor’s note) say: “Something is missing“. So, we try something else. The rehearsals went really well, I was really happy. I wasn’t missed once and I miss myself on the big day. The moment I go off the rails, we move on. on a musical bridge that doesn’t exist I don’t put all the blame on it, but I think that. [le fait d’être contre Sahteene] is not for nothing. Besides, I’m not the only one who broke down, Sahteene, the whole end of the song, she lost her voice.

Did you think you were going to win this cross-battle?
Me, in my head I had lost. It’s not even: “What’s going to happen ?“, It is : “I’m leaving tonight“Vianney defended me really well and I think that made the difference.

How did you feel when you discovered your very close victory?
There, I burst into tears because I eliminated my little sister with one voice and it’s so ridiculous that it’s hard. It was part of his dreams to move forward in adventure and it was me who deprived him of it, it was horrible.

Did Vianney motivate you for super cross-battles?
He told me : “We’re going to be sure and we’re going to tear up the next one. And you won’t miss your”. I said: “Don’t worry“. But I was so elsewhere.
