Swedish Power Metal titans HammerFall are set to release their 13th studio album, Avenge The Fallen, on August 9 via Nuclear Blast Records. The announcement comes on the heels of the highly successful United Forces tour.

“This is our thirteenth album”declares singer Joacim Cans when talking about the group’s journey. “How to stay relevant after 13 albums? The question sounds a lot like the first line of the song Avenge The Fallen: ‘Which is worse, being the one who died, or being the one who lived?’ Think about it, because it’s a difficult question.”

Cans goes on to highlight the group’s commitment to artistic integrity and evolution. “Do we want to be a band that releases new music for the sole purpose of getting back on the road or do we want to continue to push ourselves and challenge ourselves? In an age where people have less and less attention spans, we continue to think in terms of full albums. A few good songs don’t make a good album. A strong album comes from an album full of good songs, and that’s what we’re delivering with Avenge The Fallen.”

To give fans a taste of what’s to come, Hammerfall have released lead single and accompanying video, Hail To The King. You can watch it below.
