The personalities who walked the red carpet gave their interpretation of the dress code, the title of which this year was “Le Jardin du temps” inspired by the eponymous short story by JG Ballard dating from 1962. And if the fashion sphere was getting impatient at the he idea of discovering the looks from the red carpet, the show lived up to expectations: grandiose. It was a fabulous score that the stars delivered to attend the charity gala orchestrated by Anna Wintour.
If the ceremony celebrated the “Sleeping Princesses” exhibition, the show was just as much on the red carpet. And for good reason, the Met Gala is an opportunity to make history with unforgettable looks. We think in particular of Celine Dion’s Oscar de la Renta fringed bodysuit in 2019, Kylie Jenner’s wedding dress for the 2022 edition, or even Rihanna’s imposing yellow dress at the 2015 Met Gala. MET GALA 2024: A high-end vintage
Celebrities flocked to the Met Gala dressed in their finest attire. The French women were in the spotlight, like Isabelle Huppert, Lena Mahfouf and Aya Nakamura, dazzling in breathtaking dresses, they once again demonstrated French know-how. On the red carpet, voluminous dresses stood out. Jessica Biel, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz… they opted for imposing pieces that attracted all eyes. But the detail that won all the votes during this edition was of course the presence of flowers. It’s a veritable Garden of Eden that has taken over the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Massive, colorful, in feathers, in lace, on a collar, a train or in the hair… the flowers adorned the most beautiful toilets, thus responding to the theme of the evening. Finally, the long trains were unanimous, embodying the “old Hollywood” style still present on the red carpet. Silhouettes at the height of glamor which enchanted the evening.
