Clara Luciani: “Françoise Hardy was my good fairy”

Clara Luciani: “Françoise Hardy was my good fairy”

A baby, a new album and a tour, her life is intense and full. “My blood” is the title of this third album, after the success of “Heart” three years ago. Her sister says that it is the album that most resembles Clara Luciani. “It’s the album of confidence. I think that It’s really something that motherhood has brought me. I have a lot less doubt, I go for it a lot more, for him.”

These are blood ties, family ties, filial ties. It can even extend to friendly ties because Clara Luciani says she is a very intense person, for whom, when people become her friends, they also become a bit of her family. However, she has lost friends along the way: “It’s really painful. Because I find that in love, we always prepare ourselves a bit to lose a love. We always say to ourselves, ‘well, maybe one morning, we’ll wake up, we won’t love each other anymore’. And it’s always somewhere a bit in a corner of our head when we are pessimistic, a bit like me. Whereas friendship, every time I meet a new friend, I tell myself that it’s for life and that we’ll grow old together. And when I lose a friend, it awakens a terrible sadness in me..”

“Tout pour moi” is the first single from the album, it’s about her son. In it, she sings: “Before you, I almost didn’t exist.” Clara Luciani: “It’s a song that tells the story of how every time we deeply love someone, whether it’s our child or a new romantic encounter, we feel like we’re becoming a new version of ourselves.”

Motherhood changed her

Thanks to motherhood, she finds herself more courageous and optimistic. “I feel like I owe it to him, that I want to be for him.” And then being a mother has reconciled her with her faults and flaws, as she explains: “This thing of accepting yourself, of finding yourself not so pathetic after all, of telling yourself it’s okay… Yes, I’m not perfect, but there you go, I’m getting by.”

Since becoming a mother, she says she has become closer to her mother. “I understand her much better. Everything she has done that is great in my life, I appreciate her all the more. Maybe the little mistakes she has made along the way like everyone else, I easily forget them. I feel very, very close to my mother who is a very good grandmother.”

His admiration for Françoise Hardy

Clara Luciani says: “It’s an incredible story to have loved the singer so much and then to have met the woman and to have had this little connection with her. It’s an incredible story for me. I would never have imagined it… if I had told that to the 14-15 year old teenager who listened to Françoise Hardy, she would never have believed it. I was extremely lucky because at one point she was really my fairy godmother. Before the first album even came out, she heard it and she decided to make it popular and she sent it, I remember, to journalists from Télérama […] And I remember thinking, “Even if it doesn’t work, who cares! I have François Hardy who listened to me and liked my songs.”

-> At the end of the show, exclusively, with her pianist, Clara Luciani performs her new single, “Romance”.

She will begin the tour from next January, then will be in on March 6 at the Accor Arena.
