Renée Richard, daughter of Mother Richard and emblematic figure of Halles Paul Bocuse, died this Sunday morning at the age of 74.
He is an essential figure in Lyon gastronomy who has passed away. Renée Richard, daughter of the famous “Mother Richard”, died this Sunday morning, devastated by a cardiac arrest after having fought for several years against the disease. She was 74 years old.
Renée bore the first name of her mother, who had marked the history of Halles Paul Bocuse by popularizing the famous Saint-Marcellin cheeses, notably thanks to her friendship with chef Paul Bocuse. Although she initially intended a career in the notary public, Renée ultimately joined the family shop to lend a hand. A temporary help that had turned into a lifelong vocation.
When her mother died, Renée took over with determination, perpetuating the know-how and reputation of the Richard house. Its disappearance leaves a void in the Lyon gastronomic landscape.
-The mayor of Lyon Grégory Doucet reacted in the afternoon: “It was with great emotion that I learned of the disappearance of Renée Richard. Lyon and its gastronomy are today losing an essential ambassador. Behind this famous name and these exceptional cheeses, a tireless worker, appreciated by all. His smile, his affability and his charm will forever be remembered. Today I think of his family, and his teams at Halles Paul Bocuse. Sincere condolences.”
