Camped in the world populated by hitmen of John Wick, Ballerina takes place following the events of the third film in the series, Parabellum. Ana de Armas plays Eve Macarro, the “ballerina” in question, as she begins training as an assassin with the Ruska Roma. Filmmaker Len Wiseman, who notably directed the films Underworldis behind the camera, while Shay Hatten, author of the last two John Wicksigns the script. Keanu Reeves reprises his legendary role, as do Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane and the late Lance Reddick.

Elio






New creation from Pixar animation studios, Elio tells the story of an 11-year-old boy who spends his time looking at the stars. When his dream comes true and he is “abducted” by aliens, they believe him to be an ambassador for Earth. In the Communiverse, Elio will have to forge bonds with intelligent life forms from far and wide and navigate an intergalactic diplomatic crisis. A trio of directors with varied experience at Pixar directs the film, which includes the voices of Yonas Kibreab, Zoe Saldaña and Jameela Jamil.

28 Years Later






28 Days Laterreleased in 2002, is considered among the best zombie works. Its sequel, 28 Weeks Later (2007), is not bad at all. The tandem of the original, Danny Boyle directing and Alex Garland writing the screenplay, team up again for the third chapter. Although an undead man in the trailer has traits similar to Cillian Murphy, the Oscar winner is not in the cast. The British Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes portray survivors who live on an island connected to the mainland by a road. When one of them leaves the island for the mainland, he discovers wonders and horrors.

To avoid hurting people, Virginie (Anne-Élisabeth Bossé) lies like she breathes. However, following a strange phenomenon, her lies become truths in a parallel universe, to the great dismay of her boyfriend Phil (Antoine Bertrand), who has already paid the price for his brother’s lies. Émile Gaudreault teams up again with screenwriters Éric K. Boulianne and Sébastien Ravary for this comedy derived from Liarbig success of 2019 with more than 6.2 million revenue.

After a year of respite, the DC Cinematic Universe (DCU) is ready to start again on new foundations in 2025. The director of the trilogy Guardians of the GalaxyJames Gunn, chose the iconic Superman to carry the first feature film of the new DCU. David Corenswet plays Clark Kent, while Lois Lane is played by Rachel Brosnahan. The plot is not yet known, but we know that the superheroes Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan) will be part of the adventure. Superman’s archenemy, Lex Luthor, is played by Nicholas Hoult.

The Fantastic Four : First Steps

Director Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, Vanessa Kirby and Pedro Pascal.

Marvel Studios has only one film released in 2024: Deadpool & Wolverine. This year, three are on the program: Captain America : Brave New World (February 14), Thunderbolts* (May 2) and The Fantastic Four : First Steps (July 25). The latter seems to us the most promising of the trio. Piloted by Matt Shakman, director of the brilliant series WandaVisionit stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The action takes place in a retrofuturistic New York of the 1960s. The four superheroes will face the devourer of planets Galactus (Ralph Ineson), and his herald Silver Surfer (Julia Garner).
