“We are heartbroken to share with you that our beloved Barron Park donkey, Perry, passed away yesterday at the age of 30. He was a beloved member of our community and we know many people will be touched by his passing,” Park Darron’s official account said on Instagram.
Incurable disease
The donkey was born in 1994 and had lived in Barron Park, Palo Alto, California, since he was three years old. According to Skynews, the animal was used as a photo model to model the character of Shrek. According to the site, Perry suffered from an incurable hoof disease, which forced park officials to euthanize the beast. For fans, they will still have to wait for the next film in the Dreamworks saga, Shrek 5, scheduled for July 2026 in the United States.
