In 2006, the film was released A great year from the English director Ridley Scott. The title of this feature film which spoke of vineyards and the sweetness of life could apply to the past cinematographic year which was a great vintage, from all points of view.

Strongest recovery

If the figures of French box office did not explode compared to the previous year (+0.9%, 182 million compared to 180.4 in 2023), they were maintained and this is already a reason for satisfaction in a market in crisis in many country. With this figure, is the undisputed leader in the number of admissions in Europe, while Germany, Italy and Spain have seen a decline of almost 5% in their theatrical admissions.

For comparison, Mexico records 350 million admissions for 128 million inhabitants while France, with its 68 million inhabitants, is approaching 200 million tickets sold. Above all, this 2024 attendance figure is the highest since the Covid crisis (2020) even if it is 13% lower than 2019 and it makes France the country experiencing the strongest recovery in the world.

These figures are all the more reassuring as the year started badly with results down sharply compared to 2023.
