“It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s Superman!” could almost exclaim the inhabitants of Metropolis in the first trailer for Supermanwhich was just revealed this Thursday.

The new film from DC Studios directed by James Gunn, expected in theaters on July 9, 2025, will be an opportunity to see David Corenswet don the superhero cape formerly worn by Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill.
A torn Superman
After giving a taste of his new film through a poster, James Gunn now lifts the veil a little more on his Superman.
According to a first synopsis, the feature film carried by Corenswet follows the titular superhero as he reconciles his heritage with his human upbringing. He embodies truth, justice and a bright future in a world that considers kindness old-fashioned.

Director James Gunn himself was responsible for writing Supermana film that is close to his heart as a big fan himself of the superhero from Krypton.
He recently declared in a short video that this project is “much more than another film” for him: “It’s a story about humanity, about what it means to be a hero in a world that doesn’t always make that task easy.”
Opposite Corenswet, the film notably features Rachel Brosnahan (The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel) in the guise of Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult (Renfield) in the shoes of Lex Luthor.
Superman will also allow us to see many other characters from the DC comics which are devoted to the adventures of Kal-El, including the super-dog Krypto but also Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), the Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) and Supergirl (Milly Alcock).
