The superhero genre had its moment of glory thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Before them, other pioneers such as Tim Burton, Sam Raimi, and Christopher Nolan showed that these feature films could be of excellent quality.
On the Metacritic evaluation site, you can find scores ranging from 0 to 100 based on the aggregation of reviews of these works. Here are the three best superhero films in history according to this criterion.
1. The Dark Knight (2008)

With 84 out of 100, Christopher Nolan wins with the second part of his Dark Knight trilogy. This film also owes a lot to the late Heath Ledger, perfect in the role of the Joker. Here is the synopsis provided by Warner Bros:
Batman ups the ante in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the last criminal organizations plaguing the city’s streets. 2. Spider-Man 2 (2004)
With a score of 83 out of 100, Sam Raimi is in second place. According to the official synopsis:
In the second installment of the Spider-Man series, based on the classic Marvel Comics hero, Tobey Maguire returns as the gentle Peter Parker, who juggles the delicate balance of his dual life as a college student and a superhuman crime fighter. The entertaining adventure intensifies and Spider-Man’s life becomes even more complicated when he faces a new foe, the brilliant Otto Octavius (Molina), who has been reincarnated as the maniac with many tentacles, “Doc Ock.”

3. Iron Man (2008)
This first MCU film completes this podium with a score of 79 on Metacritic. In this gem, we follow the adventures of Tony Stark, a brilliant entrepreneur and innovator. This jack of all trades is kidnapped during a trip to Afghanistan. We then witness the genesis of a superhero: Iron Man. Armed with numerous technologies, the latter puts his skills and his money at the service of good.
This highly successful film launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe in theaters. This success is largely due to the talent of actor Robert Downey Jr. who, after a major slump, was able to brilliantly relaunch his career.
