This mind-blowing film will amaze you on Disney+

Released in June 2021 in theaters, this live-action film that doesn’t lack bite has just arrived on the Disney+ catalog. It would be a shame to miss it!

For several years, Disney has accustomed its fans to remakes of all kinds. The Mickey Mouse franchise also sometimes relies on original stories focused on the youth of its flagship characters, as was the case for Cruella, the villain of 101 Dalmatians. Graig Gillespie’s live-action film is set in 1970s London. When budding designer Estella (Emma Stone) crosses paths with Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson), her destiny will change forever. Young Estella will gradually transform into the ruthless Cruella, swapping her sleek ensembles for punk-rock looks, each more extravagant than the last. She uses fashion as a real weapon to dethrone the baroness and defy the establishment. The costumes were all designed by Jenny Beavan, who revealed her little secrets for dressing Emma Stone in Cruella.

Cruella : Emma Stone sports no less than 47 looks in the film

Interviewed by Entertainment WeeklyJenny Beavan revealed that she found all the looks for the film in vintage stores in London, Los Angeles and Brooklyn : “So Cruella has 47 looks in the film and in her story she would definitely have used vintage stores, especially before she had a lot of money. We looked at costume shops, which have a good stock of 1970s clothes, but it was also interesting to go to Portobello Road Market in London. We also went to LA and Brooklyn. We had ten suitcases full of stuff for Emma. We sorted through the looks, started fitting, learned what would work and what wouldn’t, and photographed everything.”

Are these real dogs in the Disney movie? Cruella ?

To avoid attracting the wrath of animal rights associations, Cruella’s personality was modified in this live-action film: firstly, the star does not wear real fur. Second, the designer no longer kills dogs. In this regard, the production used few animals for filming, most of which were created by special effects. The real dogs seen on screen are both trained pets from homes and dogs found in shelters, all adopted and pampered by families at present.
