Mel Gibson is back to direct with a thriller set in the air: “High Risk Flight”! Check out the first images from this action film starring Mark Wahlberg!

Eight long years after You Shall Not Kill, Mel Gibson finally returns to directing with High Risk Robbery! This thriller by Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Dockery and Topher Grace will soon arrive in cinemas, distributed by Metropolitan. The French release date has not yet been announced.

In the meantime, the studio has unveiled a breathtaking first trailer, in which Mark Wahlberg sports a surprising baldness. The latter plays a pilot responsible for escorting a dangerous criminal for his trial. Obviously, everything is not going to go as planned…

Note that Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg have already collaborated on the comedy Very Bad Dads 2 and the drama Father Stu: A Hero Like No Other. However, if the two artists responded to each other, this will not be the case on High Risk Flight because Gibson remains behind the camera this time.

Note that the filmmaker follows in the tradition of feverish thrillers taking place on a plane like The Wings of Hell with Nicolas Cage or Air Force One with Harrison Ford. More recently, French director Jean-François Richet gave us the very successful Mayday with Gerard Butler.

After High Risk Robbery, Mel Gibson should get down to work on Lethal Weapon 5. Guest on Steven Oxley’s show, the Oscar-winning filmmaker for Braveheart confirmed that he was going to take care of the new episode of the saga policewoman. “I’m going to direct the 5th film in the Lethal Weapon franchise. Richard Donner, who directed the other 4, unfortunately passed away, and he was a good friend”he confided.

“He kind of tasked me with taking over on this film, and so it’s going to be an honor for me to do that. He had gone a long way with the script, so we took that material and continued to refine it. I’m pretty happy with it.”he added.

In addition to Lethal Weapon 5, which should therefore be his next project, Mel Gibson also wants to direct the sequel to The Passion of the Christ with Jim Caviezel: Resurrection.
