After several disappointments in the cinema, Robert Zemekis returns to the forefront. The father of Forrest Gump et Back to the future aspires to a new journey through time with Herewhich must come out next November in the United States. And Pinocchio was not critically acclaimed, we can hope that this ambitious project marks the comeback of the legendary filmmaker. The project has some arguments in its favor.
Inspired by the graphic novel of the same name by Richard McGuire, Here retraces several decades of life of a couple. From their first meeting to the end of their lives through their marriage and the birth of their children, Here is a priori a long story like many others. But Robert Zemeckis, who likes to explore ambitious formats and put technology at the heart of his narrative process, launched a major challenge. All of his footage is filmed from a single point of view, in the middle of a single room. He explains to Vanity Fair :
“Perspective never changes, but everything around it changes. This has never been done before. Similar scenes can be found in the first silent films, before the invention of the language of editing. But apart from that, yes, it’s a risky adventure”.
The main roles were given to Tom Hanks et Robin Wright, which finds itself thirty years after Forrest Gump. They are not the only ones to pile up again since the screenwriter Eric Roth will also be on the trip. Paul Bettany, Kelly Reilly, Michelle Dockery and David Fynn are among the personalities invited to respond to the leading duo.
