Did you like the films Spider-Man: New Generation and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse? Sony too. So much so that the studio is now ready to produce a live-action film of the adventures of Miles Morales. Which is not necessarily good news for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker when you know the comics.
The best superhero films of recent years are neither from the MCU nor the DCU. To be honest, these aren’t even live-action films. In reality, the two productions that most thrilled audiences at the cinema through impressive staging and crazy creativity are Spider-Man: New Generation (2018) by Peter Ramsey, Bob Persichetti and Rodney Rothman, as well as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) signed Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson.
Result of these two animated nuggets? 1.06 billion in global box office revenue for all of these two episodes, an Oscar for Best Animated Film won in 2019 (+ 1 other nomination in 2024) and average scores of 97% and 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Just that.
Sony ready to adapt Miles Morales into live-action?
A crazy plebiscite deserved given the quality of these works, which obviously did not go unnoticed. Also, while the story follows the adventures of Miles Morales – the successor to Peter Parker in the Marvel comics, Sony Pictures would now be ready to bring him to life in live-action at the cinema.
