“Hellbound”, “Parasyte”… Korean director Sang-Ho Yeon has multiplied fruitful collaborations with Netflix. For his new project with the platform, he is teaming up with another great filmmaker.
Korean projects are multiplying on Netflix and the platform is calling on recognized talents to develop new successful films and series. For several years, the American giant has been collaborating with Sang-Ho Yeon, who became known around the world with his zombie blockbuster Last Train to Busan in 2016.
Sang-Ho Yeon has directed three projects for Netflix – the sci-fi film Jung_E and the series Hellbound and Parasyte: The Gray – and he will direct a new one, we learn The Hollywood Reporter. Indeed, the Korean filmmaker is embarking on the production of a new film and he will be joining forces with a big name in cinema.
What is the next film from the director of “Last Train to Busan”?
For his next feature film, Sang-Ho Yeon called on Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuarón! The latter will be producer and consultant on the Korean filmmaker’s new project.
“Alfonso Cuarón, known for masterpieces like Sons of Man and Gravity, has greatly influenced my work as a director”did he declare. “I’m excited about this opportunity to collaborate with him to shape Revelations, and I have high expectations for our partnership.”
Revelations is therefore the title of the new film that Sang-Ho Yeon is preparing for Netflix and it is an adaptation of his own webtoon, which he will write with Choi Gyu-seok, screenwriter of Hellbound and collaborator of his webtoons.
This new thriller centers on a missing persons case that will impact the lives of a pastor and a detective. When the pastor of a small church in a provincial town believes he has found the culprit of his son’s kidnapping thanks to a divine revelation, he lets himself be consumed by his desire for revenge and will do anything to obtain justice.
A detective, herself haunted by visions of her sister who died following a heinous crime, is then responsible for investigating this case after following the suspect’s trail. But she will also investigate the pastor.
While waiting to discover this new film by Sang-Ho Yeon, you will soon be able to discover season 2 of Hellbound, which should be released at the end of the year on Netflix.
