There is a fourth film in the canon of The Dark Knight trilogy. A forgotten original project, yet supervised by the producers of the trilogy and which forms the link between the first two parts.

A forgotten Batman film

If Batman is undoubtedly the superhero who has benefited from the most adaptations, the hero is best remembered for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy. The American-British filmmaker gave the masked vigilante his greatest cinematic hours with his trilogy which grossed more than $2.5 billion at the box office. But you should know that this version of the Dark Knight has also been made into an animated film. The project, split into several episodes, is called Gotham Knight (Tales of Gotham in French) and was produced by some famous Japanese animation studios, such as Madhouse or Studio 4°C.

A great project

Released in 2008, this American-Japanese animated project was not supervised by Christopher Nolan. But we find in the credits the same producers of the film trilogy. And this animated film is part of The Dark Knight universe. Taking place between the first and second films, Gotham Knight aims to develop the character played on screen by Christian Bale with new adventures and especially the appearance of cult enemies like Killer Croc or Deadshot. The anthology shines with its animation, but it’s also a great way to enrich this version of Batman and go where the films couldn’t go. We therefore invite you to take a look at Batman: Gotham Knight if you swear by Nolan’s adaptation and have not yet discovered this truly original project.
