“Exceptional”: rated 3.9 out of 5, it’s Dakota Fanning’s best film – Cinema News

Dakota Fanning stars in Ishana Shyamalan’s directorial debut “The Lookouts.” On this occasion, find out which is the best film in the filmography of the American actress according to AlloCiné spectators.

Dakota Fanning is the perfect illustration of the expression “growing up in front of the cameras.” Daughter of a professional tennis player and a former baseball player, the young American born in 1994 began her career at the age of 5. After commercials and appearances in the series ER, CSI, Ally McBeal, The Practice, Spin City and Malcolm, Dakota Fanning landed her first film role in the comedy Tomcats.

A furtive appearance which the young woman nevertheless remembers on our microphone. During our meeting to promote the film The Watchers, we asked Dakota Fanning about the very first day of filming in her life.

The latter returns with humor to her role as a little girl who cries: “I always say my first movie role was in San I Am Sam, but that’s not really the case, it was actually a movie called Tomcats, and I played a girl in a park. I just had to scream and run away. That’s all I had to do but I still remember it. I just had to slide down a slide or something and scream and run away. But I liked it.”

The 7-year-old then landed the role of Lucy, the daughter of an autistic man played by Sean Penn, in Sam I’m Sam. A role for which she won the Critics Choice Award for Best Actress in a Drama. From then on, Dakota Fanning became the darling of Hollywood.

30 years including 25 years of career…

At the age of 30, she has a 25-year career and more than 65 films and series to her credit.

In The Watchers by Ishana Shyamalan, she plays Mina, a young woman who finds refuge in a house already occupied by three people after getting lost in the forest. She will then discover the rules of this very secret place: every night, the inhabitants must allow themselves to be observed by the mysterious occupants of this forest. They can’t see them, but they watch everything.

A film which draws an astonishing parallel with the life of the young woman who grew up under the gaze of spectators. On the occasion of the release of this thriller, we invite you to discover which is the favorite film of AlloCiné spectators from Dakota Fanning’s filmography.

Taking into consideration the average viewer rating and the number of reviews, Tony Scott’s Man on Fire is the clear winner. With 20,055 ratings and 726 reviews, the feature film has an average viewer rating of 3.9 stars out of 5.

Man on fire

Released in theaters in 2004, Man on Fire is led by Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning, Christopher Walken, Giancarlo Giannini, Radha Mitchell, Marc Anthony and Mickey Rourke. This thriller takes place in Mexico, then in the grip of an unprecedented wave of child kidnappings. It is in this context fraught with threats that former CIA agent John Creasy (Washington) arrives in Mexico. Called by his old friend Rayburn, the latter is offered an unexpected job: bodyguard for little Pita Ramos (Fanning), daughter of industrialist Samuel Ramos. But the little girl is kidnapped. Although seriously injured, Creasy sets out in pursuit of the kidnappers. Inflexible, he goes back up the trail, vowing to find his protégé.

The film is adapted from the novel “The Fireman” by “AJ Quinnell”, pseudonym of a writer whose identity has never been revealed. His hero, CIA agent John Creasy, also appears in the works “The Perfect Kill“, “The Blue Ring” And “Message from hell“.

Spectators particularly appreciate the performance of Denzel Washington and young Dakota Fanning, as well as the plot of the thriller.

Man on fire

For Alain D of Club AlloCiné, Man on Fire is a “Excellent thriller directed by Tony Scott. HE still delivers a very careful staging. The scenario is breathtaking: no downtime in this story where the events follow each other at a frantic pace. The omnipresent soundtrack is suave, with beautiful insertions from Linda Ronstadt and Kinky. It reflects the atmosphere of the late 70s well. The cast is very brilliant: Dakota Fanning is astonishingly true in the role of Pita, the well-bred and extremely lucid little girl. Radha Mitchell is equally brilliant as Lisa, Pita’s mother. As for Denzel Washington, he is, as usual, simply remarkable.”

For romano31″Tony Scott makes an excellent detective film here. The action is well-balanced and the camera is on fire. Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning are sublime and even manage, at the end of the film, to bring us to tears. It’s rare to be moved when watching this kind of film. Well done.”

NeoLain writes: “Man on Fire is beautiful, well done (particularly interesting effects on the film, slightly washed out effects which fit well with the atmosphere). Denzel Washington in great form. He shows us all his talent in Man on Fire , his accuracy in his role, his charisma really make him a sure value of the 7th art. Note the presence of Christopher Walken whose role is quite erased. The soundtrack of the film by Lisa Gerard is grandiose. in The War of the Worlds still sticks in my memory.”

Man on fire

For Bearnais64, “This film is simply exceptional. It’s true that the basic plot, a kidnapped child who is sought by her bodyguard, is quite simple. On the other hand, the part where we discover that the father is responsible gives more punch to the film. Denzel Washington is magnificent in this role. The young actress Dakota Fanning is very convincing in her role.”

In 2006, the Serbian Internet user already predicted that Dakota Fanning would be talked about and wrote: “This is a very good film. The landscape is striking, Mexico and its mafia influence which brings terror to the city. It is admirably well presented. This film reveals a very young talented actress, Dakota Fanning, touching in her role , will undoubtedly still be talked about in the future, Denzel Washington, as a former hitman who takes refuge in belief, shines on the screen. We also enjoy seeing Rourke and Walken.

Videoman29 from Club AlloCiné wrote in 2013: “Phew the slap!! This shows that we can still be surprised by a scenario seen over and over again. Tony Scott, great master of the action film, has concocted a superb thriller full of action and suspense in the tune of bodyguard. Denzel Washington plays the bodyguard and an adorable blonde girl plays the little protégé. The alchemy works immediately and we become quickly and strongly attached to the characters, the kidnapping story which inevitably follows only has more strength and we follow with a ferocious appetite Denzel’s efforts to pursue the kidnappers.

In Mexico, revenge smells of gunpowder and blood and the result is quite enjoyable. On a technical level the film is impeccable, the production and the interpretation of the different actors are just perfect, no false notes. The predominantly Mexican music reinforces, if necessary, the drama of the film; The ending is touching, even moving. If you like action films with a manipulation backdrop, you’ll love Man on Fire“.

Equalizer 3

Note that Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning met again 19 years later for Antoine Fuqua’s action film, Equalizer 3, released in theaters in 2023.

The director also declared on the microphone of the American site ComicBook.com : “We’ve never talked about it between us, but it’s something I’ve thought about. When Dakota Fanning told me she was interested, I was like, ‘It’s Man on Fire, but years later.’ But I never told them that because they were focused on their Equalizer 3 characters at that time. But when we see them together, when I saw them on set, I smilei.”
