Hugh Jackman talks about the difficulty of playing Wolverine at over 50 in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Hugh Jackman is starting to feel the weight of age on his body and it’s one of the reasons he almost refused to return for Deadpool & Wolverine. However, the temptation was too great and he was happy to see that he could still hold out.

“When I came back, it was really fun and I was excited. My body was a little sore at first, but I was glad my body was still responding. And I realized how good it is for your brain. But the hardest part… the food,” Jackman said.

He explains that he has always had difficulty gaining volume. “I have to eat a lot”, he continues. “ For me, for my body type, I am naturally skinny. Gaining weight is the hardest part. That’s what bothers me. »

Speaking to People with Jackman, Ryan Reynolds said he “couldn’t believe” the physical effort he had seen from Jackman. He shares his admiration for his playmate.

“Just the dedication with which you devoted yourself to the stunts, to the choreography. It was the first time I saw how invaluable singing and dancing training is when shooting an action film.”did he declare. “You hit your marks in those fight scenes with speed and confidence like I’ve never seen. I don’t care if you’re 25, 35, 45 or 55 years old. It was like lightning. »

“Watching you do what looked like clinical stunts was one of the most impressive things I have ever seen in my life”added Reynolds.

Reynolds and Jackman will make their MCU debut in Deadpool & Wolverinehaving already played their famous characters during their 20th Century Fox days, Reynolds playing Wade Wilson in the previous two Deadpool installments and Jackman in the film series X-Men.

In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, the confirmed cast of Deadpool 3 also features Emma Corrin, Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), Stefan Kapičić (Colossus) and Matthew Macfadyen.

Directed by Shawn Levy, Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled for release on July 24, 2024.
