Here are 4 must-see films at the cinema this weekend

It’s getting colder and colder and the rain is back. What anguish! In our opinion, the situation is perfect for creating a canvas for yourself. At the moment, there are a lot of excellent films to discover in theaters. There’s nothing better than a good movie outing to fully enjoy the weekend!

With an avalanche of interesting films on show, everyone should be won over. Indeed, there is something for everyone. If you have already seen (and perhaps been disappointed, like us, by Joker: Folie à Deux), here are 4 feature films not to be missed in cinemas.

phew love

We’ve been waiting for months for the release of phew love. This is Gilles Lellouche’s second film and the project seemed wildly ambitious and promising. Of course, phew love was presented in the official competition of the 77th edition of the Film Festival. This feature film presents itself as a great, ultra-violent musical love story, with several eras and temporalities which constantly intersect and recross.

Inspired by the novel by Neville Thompson, phew love takes us to the heart of Jackie and Clotaire’s passionate relationship, from their meeting in the 1980s in the north of . If everything opposes them and life continually tries to separate them, their love is so strong, so “phew”, that nothing helps. They are like two ventricles of the same heart.

The feature film promises to take spectators through an avalanche of emotions for 2 hours and 40 minutes, between violence and tenderness. Spectators and the press were delighted, giving scores of 4.2 and 3.2 out of 5 respectively, with some calling it a real cinematic slap in the face. The staging and the acting (Adèle Exarchopoulos, François Civil, Mallory Wanecque, Malik Frikah, Alain Chabat) are acclaimed everywhere. This is the must-see release of the week!

The wild robot

Take out the tissues, The wild robot is the animated film of the moment. Following a shipwreck, ROZZUM unit 7134 washes up on a desert island. “Roz” must then learn to adapt to this new hostile environment and, little by little, builds relationships with the animals on the island. The robot discovers all of its humanity when it crosses paths with an orphaned baby bird who mistakes it for its mother.

The wild robot is a touching epic full of emotions and stands out as the new gem from DreamWorks. Graphically, it’s flawless. The feature film also benefits from careful, intelligent and poetic writing, as well as thrilling staging. It’s hard not to get attached to this wild robot… The spectators are particularly excited and give it an average of 4.4 out of 5. As for the press, it is positive, but a little more mixed, with a score of 3 ,8.

Mercy

With Mercydirection a small village in Aveyron. And weird things happen When Jérémie returns to Saint-Martial to attend the funeral of his former baker boss, he spends a few days with his widow, Martine. Mysterious disappearance, threatening neighbor, abbot with strange intentions… Jérémie’s return will not be easy.

Director Alain Guiraudie (The stranger of the lake) delivers an intriguing feature film that will not leave you indifferent. Black comedy, thriller… The film plays on several tables and there is reason to rejoice. The press is cheerful with a rating of 3.9 out of 5. As for the spectators, they are a little more temperate with a rating of 3.5 out of 5.

Souleymane’s story

Press as spectators, Souleymane’s story got everyone in agreement: 4.1 out of 5. The feature film was doubly rewarded at the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival (Male Actor Prize and Un Certain Regard Prize) and resonates with moviegoers. Souleymane’s story. It’s all in the title. Boris Lojkine’s film follows Souleymane Sangaré, a bicycle deliveryman in the streets of who has his asylum interview in 48 hours. He thus repeats a story over and over to succeed and obtain papers, a symbol of hope and change of life.

And Souleymane’s story so seduced, it is thanks to the performance of Abou Sangaré, who plays for the very first time in front of a camera. The actor shows incredible accuracy, his story being extremely close to that of the protagonist, which reinforces the realism and emotion of the feature film.
