The scenario of Captain America 4 would have leaked on the Internet and as one might expect, the next MCU film does not a priori promise anything exciting for the return of Sam Wilson.
Since it began, Phase 5 of the MCU has been on a roller coaster ride. First there was the disappointment ofAnt-Man 3 which lit all the red lights, then James Gunn’s swan song with Guardians of the Galaxy 3followed by the descent of organs of The Marvels and the triumph of Deadpool & Wolverine. As for the next Captain America : Brave New World by Julius Onah, we are tempted to bank on another failure rather than an unexpected success.
The most obvious reason: Steve Rogers and Chris Evans bowed out in 2019 afterAvengers : Endgamethus leaving the title and the legendary shield to Sam Wilson, formerly known as the Falcon, and his interpreter Anthony Mackie. Moreover, according to the pitch which recently leaked on the Internet, this Captain America 4 doesn’t promise anything crazy. WARNING: GREAT RISK OF SPOILERS!
CAPTAIN AMERICA 4.2
At the beginning of October 2024, two different arrangements of Captain America 4 were apparently shown in test screening. One of the viewers, who presumably didn’t like what he saw, shared the details in a post Reddit. On the other hand, we do not know which version he was able to see, what differs between the two and what will or will not be kept in the final cut. The next information is therefore take with a pinch of salt.
According to the publication, the film begins with Sam Wilson and Joaquin Torres (the guy from Falcon & the Winter Soldier that everyone had forgotten) on a mission to recover a stock of adamantium, the metal that covers Wolverine’s skeleton. This stock is in the hands of the Serpent Society, a group of villains led by Seth Voelke, played by Giancarlo Esposito.
Joaquin and Sam then go to visit Isaiah Bradley (the old Super-Soldier of Falcon & the Winter Soldier), which leads them. A day, Sam is invited (summoned?) to the White House where former General Thaddeus Ross (previously played by William Hurt) landed. The one who is now President of the United States is counting on Sam to become the new leader of the Avengers, in place of Steve. During the day, several security agents as well as Isaiah Bradley lost their temper and attacked the President before being arrested.
Sam realizes that his friend was hypnotized, as were the security guards. While investigating, the two Sherlocks come across Samuel Sterns aka the Leader (played by Tim Blake Nelson). The latter helped Thaddeus when he was dying, giving him powers similar to those of the Hulk (minus the invulnerability). For his part, the President tries to get other countries to sign a treaty, but Japan opposes this by accusing the United States of having stolen their adamantium at the beginning of the film, ” or something like that“, as the author of the post clarified.
The Japanese and American fleets are therefore playing naval battle alongside the Céleste, which is half-emerged from the Eternalsand Joaquin is injured. President Ross understands that the Leader betrayed him by colluding with The Serpent Society. He is trapped and changes into the Red Hulk, but he is injured and prefers to surrender to the authorities, which Sam Wilson finds honorable. His daughter, Betty Ross (Liv Tyler), comes to give him a kiss, for a useless cameo, after Bucky also stops by to say hello to Sam for another useless cameo. And end credits.
The post-credits scene would only bea nod to Amadeus Choa crossover character at Stark Industries who could in turn join the “Hulk-family”.
These two montages are not the first, however. A previous test screening of the film had already been organized last year, before the release date was pushed back by almost seven months while it went back to the editing room… Captain America : Brave New World will be released in France on February 12, 2025.
