Ryan Reynolds pitched these crazy ideas to Marvel Studios boss

To say Ryan Reynolds is invested in his role as Deadpool is an understatement. The Canadian actor being determined to offer Mercenary fans the best possible story, he pitched several ideas to the boss of Marvel StudiosKevin Feige, and some were completely crazy!

these very original ideas proposed by Ryan Reynolds

While the trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine confirmed some of the theories imagined by fans, the plot of the film remains very mysterious (here are our 6 predictions about the story). Ryan Reynolds, who will soon return as the loudmouth superhero, is very involved in his character’s audiovisual adventures. The Canadian actor with a boundless imagination proposed dozens of script ideas to Kevin Feige, the big boss of Marvel Studios. If the latter ultimately decided to go in a completely different direction, the fact remains that some of Ryan Reynolds’ ideas were worth the detour! The actor confided to our colleagues at Empire that he first considered:

A story about Rashōmon on Wolverine and Deadpool, in which they are embarked together, but told from three completely different points of view. It was a way of making a large-scale film in a very small way.

A proposal refused by Kevin Feige because he was still thinking about the general aspect of the film, and in particular the presence of Wolverine.

The truth is that I didn’t yet know how to integrate Deadpool. I was thinking about how to integrate the mutants and the X-Men [dans le MCU], and I thought we needed to go further than just playing the hits. But the truth is that Ryan [Reynolds] is an ideas machine. He may have suggested this to me, but he also offered me 25 other ideas and thoughts.

In their shared quest for the best possible story for Deadpool and Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Feige explored all sorts of avenues.

I went back to the drawing board and wrote out about 18 different tracks. Some of them almost looked like a Sundance film, with a budget of less than $10 million, sort of using intellectual property in a way that they hadn’t used before, and I came up with bigger films, and things in between.

As for executive producer Wendy Jacobson, she adds:

It is certain that we have a little turned around in circles trying to find the reason for this film. Once Hugh raised his hand, two months later, we were preparing the film. Honestly, this is one of the fastest turnaround times I’ve ever seen. Who knows, maybe this film is closer to Yojimbo.

These are therefore two samurai films by Akira Kurosawa which were mentioned during the design of Deadpool 3and we can’t wait to know if their unique atmosphere will come through in the film!
