Three years later Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Venom: The Last Dance announces the arrival of Knull and the creator does not hide his excitement.
THE Spider-Verse (without Spider-man) by Sony is still trying to make a place for itself among the other superhero franchises. But between the nanar Madame Webwhich nevertheless had an incomprehensible success on Netflixand the shameful MorbiusSony’s universe collects tasks as well as commercial failures. However, in the absence of critical successes, the universe has had box office successes. Two, to be more precise: Venomcarried by Tom Hardywhich grossed 850 (!) million dollars worldwide and Venom Let There Be Carnagewhich raised $506 million.
So there was no escaping a Venom 3which is officially called Venom: The Last Dancehoping that the “Last” in the title is literal. After Riot and Carnage, this third installment written and directed by Kelly Marcel will introduce a new, all-powerful and central enemy in the mythology of the symbiotes: Knull. Enough to fear another massacre with big hits of lousy CGI and a dull second degree (Venom And Venom 2 (setting a precedent). But the creator of the monster wanted to be a little reassuring.
VENOM FOR KNULL
On Twitter/X, Donny Catesthe creator of Knull, revealed, not without enthusiasm, that he had read the script:
” I’ve talked to Sony and I’ve read the script for Venom The Last Dance, and I’m saying, it’s so much bigger, and so much more ambitious than you can imagine. And….KNULL. My God. That’s how you treat a king. Happy birthday to myself.”
Nothing concrete at this stage, even if we are tempted to see the beginning of an “after” sales service on the part of Donny Cates. However, Knull is indeed an interesting villain insofar as he is of a supernatural god capable of killing a hero such as Sentry (aka Marvel’s Superman). The super villain is the originator of the creation of the alien race of the Klyntar (the symbiotes, for short), that is to say the species from which Venom originates. So Knull is the creator of Venom.
More specifically, he is the master of the Hive and his goal is to enslave people by killing the light of their planet thanks to his army of symbiotes. Well then there is the horse-symbiote of the trailer which suggests that everything will be more grotesque than epic, but we are only asking to be wrong.
To find out if Knull will be another carnage or a good surprise, we will have to wait for the release of Venom: The Last Dance October 30, 2024 in France.
