The Ricardo Tormo circuit unveils an ambitious schedule despite the slow pace of reconstruction work

At the end of November, the Ricardo Tormo Circuit was to host the final of the MotoGP world championship in Valencia. However, events decided otherwise. Affected by the terrible floods which hit the city a few weeks earlier, the site was inaccessible, and did not allow the organization of a Grand Prix in good conditions. A few months later, the situation has not changed, but those responsible maintain the ambition to complete 18 race weekends in 2025.

The devastating floods that hit the city of Valencia last October left the Ricardo Tormo circuit unrecognizable. The Minimoto circuit was completely destroyed, while the access road to the circuit collapsed. Two months later, nothing has changed. An alternative route, initially created for a short duration, still serves as the sole access road to the site, while repair work on the main road has not started.

In any case, this is what we observed during our visit to Valencia last December. A sad observation that we will have the opportunity to discuss in a dedicated article. The initial road gathers dust between the palm trees fallen by the wind, still obstructing the passage on the few sidewalks that remain intact. If the parking lots are now used as warehouses, the barriers surrounding them were blown away during the storm.

Despite everything, the circuit maintains that the 18 events it plans to organize in 2025 will be. In a press release published at the dawn of this new year, the Ricardo Tormo circuit ensures that the reconstruction work on the parking lots and the four access points to the site will begin shortly to allow this.

This will not take long, since the first motorsport events should take place in mid-February, with the Winter Series and the Porsche Sprint Challenge. Competitions which obviously do not attract as many spectators as the MotoGP, which remains the most important race of the year for the site. The first two-wheeled event which will take place at the 2025 venue, and which has yet to be confirmed, will be the Spanish Superbike Championship, at the beginning of May.

The final of the 2025 MotoGP world championship has been set for the weekend of November 15, which still gives those responsible for the venue time to put things in order. As a reminder, the circuit has considerable resources to do this, generated by the numerous donations which have been made directly to the circuit, and not to the city of Valencia. The Assen circuit, for example, offered €50,000 for the purchase of trucks to carry out the reconstruction work.

The important motorcycle events of the 2025 calendar of the Ricardo circuit Torme:

9 – 11 May Cto Spain Superbike ESBK (to be confirmed)
13 – 16 November Valencian Community Grand Prix
21 – 23 November FIM JuniorGP
