Former Motorcycle racer and son of a double world champion, Spaniard Axel Pons, aged 33, left everything to travel around the world barefoot for three years.
He has definitively abandoned the motorcycle. He now goes barefoot. Retired from the circuits since the end of 2017, Axel Pons (33 years old), who rode in 125 cc and Moto2, has radically changed his life. Son of Sito Pons, double world champion in 250 cc (1988, 1989), the Spaniard became a professional model, before making the decision to leave everything behind to settle on an island in Asia, far from stress.
And he finally became a “walker,” Marca revealed. For a little over three years, the Barcelona native has been traveling the planet barefoot, and he notably reached Pakistan from Spain in 15 months.
“I walk without shoes. It’s beautiful,” said Axel Pons, who tried to reach India this summer, but did not obtain a visa, in a video posted on YouTube last July. And the reasons for this change are above all spiritual with the desire to enjoy every moment of life.
“What was the point of living life at such a fast pace? I began to go slower and slower, until I began to move through the world slowly, appreciating the details of life. We only had the desire to perfect the union with Allah or God, and this is our way of praying and practicing: walking,” confided Axel Pons, whose pace of life has slowed considerably.
