Monday, Pierer Industrie AG revealed the launch of a European restructuring process in line with the Restructuring Regulation. This initiative aims to extend the maturity of bonds and loans, in particular to repay a total debt of 250 million euros. This decision is part in a process of protection against possible bankruptcy.
On Tuesday, the situation worsened with the official announcement that KTM AG
would request the opening of a “judicial restructuring procedure with self-administration of its assets”. This process also involves its subsidiaries KTM Components GmbH and KTM F&E GmbH. Other entities, notably distribution companies, are not affected.
Management believes that the current financing requirements of
KTM AG reach a high three-digit amount (in millions of euros). It recognizes that the necessary interim financing cannot be obtained in time.
The objective is to negotiate a restructuring plan with creditors within 90 days.

To get through this period, KTM expects a significant reduction in its operational performance, in particular by adjusting inventories at KTM and its dealers. This strategy could lead to a drop in revenue of up to one billion euros over the next two years in Upper Austria.
